John 13:14-17 (NIV)

14Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

Looking back to the events in the Upper Room, some of us are like Peter. We are not willing for the Lord to wash our feet. We are content to wash other feet but not willing to let anyone wash ours. Jesus is showing us, by example, why we have to allow him to wash our feet. Just last week our Lifeline team was in Mexico to repair a parsonage. This pastor was living in a very bad situation. The roof was leaking, ceiling coming down, no doors inside the house. What did this pastor and church do? They took care of the team and gave us the best that they had. They washed our feet by example. We were there to serve them. What example would we be to them if we had been unwilling to receive their love expressed in their service to us? We all need to be receptive to others who give us a blessing that we do not expect. Just remember this example of service to others by our Savior.

At this time, we are preparing to send a team to Reynosa. We have boxes and boxes of clothes and sewing materials for the church there. Remember that they have a sewing ministry and clothing ministry for the poor. The church is growing and they are going to very soon move the wall to accommodate all the new people that are coming to Lord. Our team will minister for the weekend by visiting, giving testimonies, and sharing in the worship services for the weekend. On Monday we will be meeting with a representative of the Oriental Conference (Methodist Church of Mexico) to look at a new church project for a future Lifeline team. Some of you need to be a part of this team. Some of you need to help the team with expenses. All of us need to pray for the team. The date for this team is March 28. We plan to drive down on March 27 to meet in McAllen, TX around lunch time on the next day. We are having no problems going into Mexico at this time. You just need a passport. You can fly to McAllen and meet the team there if you don’t want to drive.

Lifeline has lost the support of one of our directors. For around 20 years, Art Shoemaker has been going on Lifeline teams. He was another example of a foot washer. His service to other people and to the church will be an example to us for years. There is no other person that I have ever met who was so dedicated to missions. When he was on your team things just worked out for the best. Just can’t tell you how many times on each trip he was able to solve the problems that are always there. We need someone to take his place. There was no limit to his willingness to pray, give time and resources to each project. He loved going on mission trips, especially the Shoebox ministry to the Navajo’s. He gathered the boxes last year personally. He even loaded the trailer but was not able to go on the trip due to cancer treatments. Our loss is heaven’s gain. Who will take his place? Let us know if you would.

Important dates: March 28 Reynosa

Remember that you can donate a car (over 10 years old) to a pastor in Mexico.

Thank you for all you do for the Lord and this ministry!

Greetings in the name of Jesus,

There is a lot going on with Lifeline. You will note in the attached “As I See It” I am currently confined to the ICU in Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

God has afforded us so much opportunity to spread the Good News in Mexico. Currently we are looking forward to the first trip to Mexico, April 19, to April 23. This will be to build one of two churches. The two locations are Santa Clara, Mexico and Aqua Prieta, Mexico. The cost of these projects is approximately $6000 each. This of course does not include per diem or travel expenses. Again we have a total of six building projects, but we need volunteers and money.

Lifeline needs people to step out in faith and receive a life changing experience from a mission trip. There are people who have been before and are always eager to return, but cannot because of financial reasons. If you ever decide to go on one of our mission trips, I assure you that you will join the list of those eager to return. There are only two kinds……great and better. We will be contacting a lot of you personally and via telephone. So come on along or help someone who is willing but not financially able.

I again thank and will continue to thank our regular supporters. You know who you are and you are the ones that enable Lifeline to continue to build for the Kingdom. Doctors willing, I will be participating in at least one of these trips. Until then, thank you and may God continue to enrich your lives.

in His service,
Griff

February 2012

Greetings in the name of Jesus,

I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to David Parrish, Sandra Griffin, and Gene and Cindy Trulock for all of their support during my recent absence. A special thanks to Gene for writing our January newsletter. I have been spending time with my sister and mother in Waynesboro, Georgia. This allows me to avail myself of the care of the cardio-vascular team at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. In view of my recent heart related confinement to the CCU at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, I am having to “jump through a lot of hoops” in order to get clearance for the rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder.

As Gene mentioned in the January newsletter, we were able to deliver the Christmas Shoeboxes to Mexico for the twelfth consecutive year. This year was without incidence.

God truly opened all the doors for a successful trip. Sandra, Carolyn May, Tyler Boone (grandson) and I not only delivered the Christmas gifts, but we also began the Sewing Ministry in Reynosa. We presented Daniel and Adamina Guerra with fourteen sewing machines to go with the fabric and sewing supplies delivered in June 2011.

I would also like to express a sincere Thank You to my cousin, Wyley Murray, and Cokesbury UMC of Pensacola, Florida for the generous gifts of sheets and blankets. With these gifts to compliment the Christmas gifts, sewing machines, sewing supplies, and food, Lifeline was able to make a big difference in the lives of the poor people of Reynosa and also enable Adamina and Daniel to expand their mission work within the Reynosa area.

For the faint of heart, I would like to point out that my grandson, Tyler Boone, is thirteen years old. His willingness to participate in his first mission trip should make a statement to the safety that Lifeline and our team members continue to experience in all areas of Mexico. Experiencing the poverty and love of the Mexican people allowed Tyler to witness first hand the Power of the God we serve. His statement was not any different from all the adults who attend their first mission trip….”When can I come back?”….!!

We have so many projects and mission work to complete in Mexico. We are only lacking ‘warriors” and funds. We need help with both.

We are gathering school supplies for the poor of Jamaica. Your Church, Sunday School or yourself may wish to get involved with this ministry. We need pens, pencils, notebooks, crayons, and other similar supplies. The youth of St. Peters AME in Jonesboro, Georgia forgo their spring break in order to deliver personally these articles.

What a labor of love and unselfishness. Lifeline is happy to be supporting their efforts for the second consecutive year.

Thank all of you for your prayers and continual support. You are doing something that actually makes a real difference in the lives of so many less fortunate people. May our God continue to bless you and I continue to be in His service.

in His service,
Griff

January 2012

Greetings in the name of Jesus,

Lamentations 3:22-23 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is thy faithfulness.

I am so glad that as we begin a new year we have the opportunity to be forgiven for past shortcomings and begin anew. The scriptures tell us that we begin anew and fresh every day with our Maker. His mercies begin afresh every day. We have a wonderful Savior that has paid the price for our sin. What Good News to tell everyone we meet.

Let us not look back but look ahead to all that we can do with the leading of our wonderful Lord.

In December our teams took the shoebox gifts to the children in Mexico and the southwestern US. Thank you, all who sent shoeboxes, helped with the trip expenses and prayed for the teams. We also sent sewing machines for a new cottage industry in Reynosa along with clothes and linens. These gifts were very much appreciated and many children gave thanks to the Father for you. The only problems this year was a tire that went flat and a false alarm that would not shut off on a van (until the cargo was unloaded).

Please be in prayer for Griff. It looks like he will be having surgery soon on his arm and shoulder and will be incapacitated for some time. We do not know the details for the timing of his surgery. We just want to let you know that the work of the ministry continues in his absence. We will be working on building projects and sending evangelistic teams as always. Please continue to pray for Lifeline and our work in the mission field.

in His service,
