March 2009

Dear Lifeline Supporter,

I am asking that you appropriate a special time and pray specifically for the people of Reynosa, Mexico.

Reynosa is a Mexican border town across from McAllen, Texas with a population of over one million. Lifeline has been involved in this area for well over 25 years.  We have sent many mission teams to Reynosa and have also built several churches in this area.  I mentioned last month about our intention of expanding the feeding program into the Reynosa region. You may remember that Lifeline’s Vice President, Gene Trulock, visited Reynosa in December 2008 with a Lifeline mission team.

On February 18 Reynosa experienced a violent street battle between suspected gangsters and Mexican soldiers. The Mexican media accounts have put the death toll as high as twenty with dozens more injured. This event coincided with an outbreak of protest along the border that has shut down several international bridges from Reynosa to Nuevo Laredo.

This adversity will slow, but not stop, Lifeline’s commitment in this part of Mexico. Pastor Daniel and Adamina Guerra have been long time friends of Lifeline and need our support and our prayers.

My intentions are still to visit this area in the next few weeks unless our State Department advises otherwise. Again, please keep Lifeline and our neighbors to the south in your prayers.
