June  2009

Dear Lifeline Supporter,

As you will note in the enclosed article of AS I SEE IT, I am addressing  prayer  in the June publication.  I am saddened to announce the death of Brother Tommy Newberry.  I am asking you to be in prayer for Tommy’s family and friends during their time of bereavement.  Tommy’s support for Lifeline Ministry dates back to our actual beginning. He was an early pioneer as well as the first elected Secretary to Lifeline Ministry. As numerous others, Tommy made his decision to enter the full time service of our Lord as a result of a Lifeline mission experience. He subsequently entered Seminary and served for over twenty years as a pastor in the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. Tommy will be deeply missed, but we rejoice in his eternal reward.

I would also ask you to keep Janet in prayer. As many of you are aware, I donated a kidney to Janet in November 1996. We thank God that she has not experienced any rejection episodes over the past thirteen years. On May 28 she was admitted to ICCU unit at Archbold Memorial Hospital and diagnosed with septic shock resulting from a Klebsiella bacteria infection.  This is an extremely dangerous bacterium that tends to occur in people with weakened immune systems, such as transplant patients. Janet is presently recovering at home, but again, we covet your prayers.

In closing, I ask that you pray for God to send Lifeline some men and women who have a passion for the lost and are willing to do sacrificial mission work. As our Lord stated to His disciples, “This harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to sent out laborers into His harvest”.
