January 2009

Dear Lifeline Supporter,

As you will note, I have combined our newsletter and my As I See It article into one mailing for January.

During the latter part of 2008, I began placing an emphasis on the theme of Lifeline returning to Bethel. Matthew 6:33a (Seek ye first the kingdom of God) is a scripture that depicts this theme. It is also the scripture quoted by Jimmy Keyton to the Methodist Bishop in Mexico that opened the doors for Lifeline’s Mexican mission work.

If we want to have a great New Year it is necessary to go back to basics, putting God first.  When we do this then everything else falls in line.  It means starting each day with time spent with our Heavenly father.  Asking Him what He wants for us to do for Him that day.  It means that we spend time reading His word and seeking Him in everything we do.  We are making that step as a ministry.  We are asking God for direction as a ministry and getting back to the basics as a ministry of witness for Him.

And all these things will be added unto you (Matthew 6:33b).  When we get our priorities right then we do not have to worry about food, clothing or shelter. God will provide them.  When our will lines up with His will He will give us everything we ask for because it is not self.  We are expecting God to send His blessings as we daily work for Him in LIFELINE.  He has blessed us so much this past year and we look to the New Year with anticipation of great things ahead for us.

During the month of December LIFELINE mission teams were in Mexico performing the following:

       1.  Shoebox Ministry.  The shoebox gifts were delivered to El Paso, Texas.  They were later taken across the border by friends from Mexico.  It took the wife of the Governor to get this done and the help of the Mexican department of social services.   Thank you for praying and supporting this project.

       2.  A team was in Reynosa to set up a new children’s ministry (Feeding program) at MARIANATHA Church.  The church has just added Sunday school rooms and a kitchen.  They want to bless the poor children in their area and tell them about our Savior with daily Bible school.

       3.  A team met with Bishop Raul Garcia about helping his conference with building churches.  He was very open to teams from LIFELINE again working in this conference.  He asked that each team do evangelism as we work on projects.   The president of South GA United Methodist Men  (Chuck Cowart) and the VP Missions (Carl Childs) were on this team.  We hope to begin the first project in March with a team from South GA United Methodist Men.

Will you join us in ministry as we start a new year?   We need your prayers and your financial support. Allow God to lead you into all things as you serve Him day by day. Your future and your   New Year will be happy and that’s the Way I See It.
