April 2009

Dear Lifeline Supporter,

Excitement and activity are the words that best describe Lifeline Ministries for the month of April. As you read this letter, I am in Reynosa, Mexico, on a mission trip. I ask that you keep us in prayer as we visit this area. I am sure you are aware of the violence our Mexican neighbors are experiencing and unfortunately, Reynosa is one of the areas considered to be a “hot spot”. I am joined on this trip by pastor Henry Miller. We will be doing marketplace and door-to-door evangelism. We will also be preaching in the prisons and Brother Henry will conduct the Wednesday night service at Maranantha Church.  The primary purpose of all our trips is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ, but along with this, I will be completing the necessary preliminaries to “kick off” our children’s feeding program.  As I have mentioned in previous communications, this is the model for all our future feeding ministries and we are so excited about it’s future.

I should return from Reynosa around the middle of April and then Gene Trulock and I will be attending Epworth by the Sea for a Methodist Men’s retreat on April 24-26.  I ask that you also keep this event in prayer. Chuck Cowart, President of South Georgia United Methodist Men and Vice President of Missions, Carl Childs, will also be in attendance at this gathering. Both of these men were in Reynosa with Gene in December 2008.

Brother Henry Miller will be going on to the Philippines to visit with Harrell Hemingway upon our return from Reynosa.

We desperately need your financial support. I realize these are difficult economic times and like everyone else, Lifeline is feeling this financial crisis. We have more opportunity than we have ever had before. I am asking you to give special consideration to our needs. I believe with all of my heart that we are in the final harvest years. God’s word tells us in Proverbs 22:9 “ A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor”. Also as Paul writes to the Corinthians “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver and God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in ALL THINGS at ALL TIMES having ALL that you need, you will abound in every good work”. As it is written “He has scattered abroad His gifts to the POOR; his righteousness endures forever.”

Thank you for your support, your service and your prayers. I remain.......

i H s

Griff
