As I See It
July 2009
Psalms 33:12 “Blessed is the nation where God is the Lord; and the people whom He hath chosen for His own inheritance.”
I do not believe anyone can truly appreciate America until they have traveled and spent time in other countries. It is only then you can comprehend how much God has really blessed this nation. I know I have taken so much for granted in the past.
The history of America has been wrapped around with the blessings of God. I believe we can humbly say that God seems to have a peculiar love for this land. From the day we were founded until this present day, His hand of blessing has been upon us.
Pericles built a nation upon culture and it failed. Caesar built a Roman civilization upon power and it failed. Our forefathers founded our nation upon Christian-Judeo principles and we will not fail so long as the Lord is our God. You might not be aware of this, but a picture of Moses was upon the first coin that was made in America. We can only pray that we maintain “In God We Trust” on our present day currency. There are those who are trying to remove this declaration. God help us. Again, our forefathers left a land of religious persecution to find a land where they were free to worship God. When the pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, they knelt down upon the shore and gave thanks to God for giving them a new country. When the Continental Congress, faced with great problems and difficulties and knew not which way to turn, Benjamin Franklin called the members of Congress to fall upon their knees and pray. I can only imagine what would happen today if our great legislative bodies prayed more and talked less! And that’s the way I see it.
In His service,
Griff
