WHEN WAS JESUS BORN?
Both historians and archeologists have a lot to say about this subject.
Over the years this has been a topic of controversy. As far as I am concerned Paul handled this subject very well in his letter to the Galatians (4:4). He came “in the fullness of time”. Why didn’t He come a hundred years later or a hundred years earlier? It is because God has a program for the world! God told Abraham (Genesis 12:2) that through his decedents all the nations of the earth would be blessed. David sang (Psalms 72:17) of a great king whose name would endure forever. The name, Jesus, has been used for over two thousand years. Isaiah said (Isaiah 9:6) “His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace”. We are told that He would come from the tribe of Judah and the line of David and that He would be born in Bethlehem. Every detail of Old Testament prophecy was fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
This is the most wonderful time of the year for Christians. This is the celebration of God’s plan for the world. Maybe it is also the time of year that we should remember that God also has a plan for our lives and that’s the way I see it. Have a Merry and Wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New Year. I pray that God’s love continues to shine upon you.
