As I See It
April 2009
And the angel answered and said unto the women, “Fear not ye; for I know that you seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he has risen, as He said. Come see the place where the Lord lay.” (Matt. 28:5-6)
On the darkest day that ever dawned, our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified. For more than thirty-three years, the Son of God had walked the ways of the world, yet He had never been contaminated by its’ sin. But they crucified Him believing they could silence Him forever. They did not realize they were carrying out God’s great eternal purpose. It was His purpose to give His only begotten Son as atonement for the sins of the whole world. God simply used them as instruments in His plan.
Now when Jesus died, the hearts of His eleven disciples broke with sorrow. They had followed Him through His ministry, they had enjoyed His fellowship, and they had been blessed by every contact with Him. But now their hopes were dead – all of their dreams had come crashing down into the dust. Then, on the first day of the week, He came back to them. He had conquered death and the grave. He had come back to live forever more. Their shadows were now turned into sunshine, their gloom into glory, and their grief into gladness. Inspired by the fact of His resurrection they went out and gave their lives for His sake.
Two thousand years have gone by and we need to remember He still loves us and we that love Him are never alone. As we face life’s hardships, we can hear Him say: “Fear ye not, for I am with you.” He is alive and that’s the way I see it.
in His service,
